Assault Rifles

Overview

In Wardogs, the AK74 functions as an assault rifle utilizing 5.45x39mm ammunition. Operating at 650 rounds/min, this weapon provides both semi-automatic and fully automatic firing modes. The default ammunition feed for this firearm uses the AK74 30 RND Magazine. The game designates AK74M as the internal name for this rifle. The AK74 becomes accessible at unlock level 1. Chambered in 5.56x45mm, the M4 serves as an assault rifle within Wardogs. Shooting at 800 rounds/min, it supports semi-automatic alongside fully automatic fire. The STANAG 30 RND Magazine serves as its default magazine. Similarly, the M4 requires unlock level 1.

Metrics for damage and kills evaluate upper-torso impacts using standard full metal jacket (FMJ) ammunition, or buckshot when firing shotguns. Assuming a target with 100 HP, required shots to kill equal 100 divided by damage per strike, rounded upward. Since the opening round discharges at 0 s, time to kill (TTK) follows the formula (shots - 1) x 60 / fire rate. Equipping a Level 3 vest reduces incoming upper-torso damage by 50%. The AK74 achieves a projectile muzzle velocity of 880 m/s. Meanwhile, projectile muzzle velocity for the M4 reaches 910 m/s.

Damage

Target Armor Class AK74 Torso Damage AK74 Head Damage M4 Torso Damage M4 Head Damage
No armor 25.3 61.1 27.3 65.8
Light 17.7 42.8 19.1 46.1
Medium 15.2 36.7 16.4 39.5
Heavy 12.7 30.6 13.6 32.9
Super heavy 10.1 24.4 10.9 26.3

Armor covering an impacted body part reduces incoming bullet damage. Eliminating a player without armor using the M4 requires two strikes to the head or four torso hits. Precision shots directed toward the head and neck inflict the greatest impact. Limbs represent an ineffective target. Inflicting damage with an M4 demands 14 impacts on hands and feet, whereas arms and legs absorb 7 to 8 hits. When a target protects their chest using heavy armor, required M4 torso strikes increase from 4 to 8. At 100 m against an unarmored opponent, the AK74 requires 4 shots with a 0.28 s TTK, rising to 8 shots and 0.65 s TTK against a Level 3 vest. At the same 100 m distance, the M4 secures an unarmored kill in 4 shots across 0.23 s, taking 8 shots and 0.53 s against a Level 3 vest.

Ammunition

Ammunition Type AK74 Upper Torso Damage M4 Upper Torso Damage
Standard (FMJ) 25.3 27.3
Flesh Damage (HP) 50.6 54.5
Armor Piercing (AP) 20.2 21.8

The AK74 chambers bullet variants including Standard (FMJ), Flesh Damage (HP), and Armor Piercing (AP). Every available cartridge category features a corresponding tracer variant. Baseline statistics reflect unarmored target hits using Standard (FMJ) rounds at point blank range. Flesh Damage (HP) ammunition inflicts increased harm when striking unprotected opponents. Conversely, Armor Piercing (AP) rounds are engineered specifically to penetrate defensive body armor. Cartridges equipped with tracers maintain damage values identical to their standard counterparts.

Range

Distance AK74 Upper Torso Damage M4 Upper Torso Damage
0 m 25.3 27.3
50 m 25.3 27.3
100 m 25.3 27.3
200 m 25.3 27.3
300 m 25.3 27.3
400 m 25.3 27.3
600 m 21.3 20.6
800 m 13.6 12.6
1000 m 7.7 7.3

Beyond an initial 10 m distance, projectile impact power is determined by the range falloff curve. An asterisk denotes engagement distances surpassing the 500 m effective range parameter where output diminishes over distance. The AK74 lists an effective range specification of 500 m. In identical fashion, the M4 carries an effective range rating of 500 m. For the AK74, torso damage remains 25.3 at 400 m, before declining to 21.3 at 600 m, 13.6 at 800 m, and 7.7 at 1000 m. Torso damage for the M4 holds at 27.3 through 400 m, subsequently diminishing to 20.6 at 600 m, 12.6 at 800 m, and 7.3 at 1000 m.

Climb after 30 shots 32.5° up 29.8° up
Average climb per shot over 30 shots 1.08° up 0.99° up

Every round exits the muzzle along an arbitrary trajectory contained within a dispersion cone surrounding the intended target. Discharging from the hip produces an expansive dispersion area that widens during character movement. Looking through weapon sights confines bullet dispersion within a notably tighter angle. Consecutive shots displace operator aim upward and laterally according to a designated recoil profile. The introduction of Season 2 left existing recoil behavior unmodified. For the AK74, recoil climbs 11.1° up after 10 shots and 32.5° up after 30 shots, with 0.6° rightward drift and a reset time of 0.65 s without firing. The M4 exhibits 10.4° upward climb after 10 shots and 29.8° up after 30 shots, drifting 1.5° left with a reset interval of 0.55 s without firing.

Economy

Acquiring the AK74 costs a vendor price of 800 as a plain number. Procuring the M4 requires a vendor price of 2800 displayed as a plain figure. Because underlying data files do not decode the in-game currency, pricing appears without currency units. With the release of Season 2, the vendor price of the AK74 dropped from 1,600 to 800.
