ARTILLERY & MORTAR CALCULATOR

Compute tactical azimuth bearings, sight mil elevations, and shell flight times for the SPH-2 tank and L81 mortar across all combat sectors.

PRIMARY WEAPON SPH-2 780m – 2629m range · Dual low & high arc trajectories
LIGHT ARTILLERY L81 Mortar 132m – 684m range · Single mortar trajectory

OPERATING THE FIRE CONTROL BOARD

Map coordinates follow game units where one unit equals 100 m. Bearing is measured clockwise from north (0° North, 90° East, 180° South, 270° West). Distance is computed from gun and target coordinates as sqrt(dx^2 + dy^2) * 100 m.

The firing solution outputs sight elevation in dial mils based on community measurements checked against logged impacts, with flight time in seconds from the game's ArtilleryRangeData table. In game data, 1 mil equals 1 milliradian (0.0573 degrees). The tables assume gun and target stand at the same elevation.

Because our community data lacks terrain heightmaps, elevation difference between battery and target can be entered manually into the Rise (Δh) box to adjust sight elevation as an estimate for sloped terrain.

BALLISTIC RANGE ENVELOPES

Range envelopes reflect the game data, while sight dial limits are community measurements checked against logged impacts (data/artillery.json notes).

WEAPON SYSTEM CLASSIFICATION TRAJECTORY ARC MIN REACH MAX REACH SIGHT DIAL SPAN
L81 Mortar buildable mortar emplacement (STN_03) Single mortar arc 132 m 684 m 150–950 mil
SPH-2 self-propelled 155 mm (L52 cannon) Low trajectory 1181 m 2629 m 24–522 mil
SPH-2 self-propelled 155 mm (L52 cannon) High trajectory 780 m 2629 m 708–1386 mil

TRAJECTORY ARC SELECTION

The SPH-2 self-propelled 155 mm howitzer operates with two trajectory arcs:

  • Low Arc (Direct): Shorter flight time (5.7 s at 1200 m to 23.7 s at 2600 m).
  • High Arc (Plunging): High trajectory with flight times from 27.6 s to 36.9 s.
  • L81 Mortar: Single steep mortar arc with flight times from 15.9 s to 22.4 s.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does dial mil mean?

Dial mil is the setting read off the gun's own MIL scale. In game data, 1 mil equals 1 milliradian (0.0573 degrees). Set the dial value on the gun sight.

How does elevation difference affect the firing solution?

The empirical tables assume gun and target stand at the same elevation. When firing uphill or downhill, enter the height difference into Rise (Δh) to add an estimated site angle correction.

Can squad mark coordinates be imported?

Target pins accept tactical grid coordinates copied from squad chat or entered into the position input fields.

Why does each weapon have a minimum range?

The SPH-2 barrel elevation is limited between 2° and 80°, creating an unengageable dead zone inside minimum reach. The L81 mortar has a fixed elevation sweep.
